European Goals

Europe had goals to conqure weaker countries for many reasons. They believed that by taking over the countries they would give them power all across the world. They needed to spread the Christianity, gain warm sea ports, raw materials, new investments, and much more. They also thought it was their duty to civilize the rest of the world by taking over. When explorers traveled to Africa to gain land, they traded beads, cloth, and guns. They cheifs had no clue what they were signing over. Many Africans where forced to perform hard labor. If they did not did the job they would be shot. When the Suez Canal was built to connect the Medditerian and Red Seas France and Britian took over Egypts finances.

View Points

European View Points: Europeans strongly believed that the invasion of other countries was a good choice. They thought they where helping the natives by invading and spreading their religion, politics, and economic plans. They also thought by forcing the native people to change religion and do labor was civilizing them from being wild beasts. They believed that they were preparing the rest of the world to be ready for anything.

Victims View Points: The victims of imperialism thought that the Europeans where harsh and uncaring. They believed that they had no need to invade their land and force people to change. They thought they where just as civilized as any other countries out there. They had goverments set up before Europeans came, they just took over and took complete or partial rule of the goverments.
